The giant sequoia slab that was for many years an attractive exhibit in the old Arizona State Museum is returning to public display in the exhibit area of the new Tree-Ring Lab building. Professional riggers handled the difficult task of gently shifting the multi-ton pieces of wood to their new home, and the operation was largely complete by the evening of Friday October 19. Further work will re-surface the slab so the rings are more clearly visible, and add new interpretive notes. The local TV station, KUAT, featured a segment on the move as part of the news documentary Arizona Illustrated (after a couple of other stories also appearing in that episode).
