An unusual competition distributed grants from University of Arizona Confluencenter for Creative Inquiry and the Institute of the Environment. Interdisciplinary teams of faculty members from diverse departments across the University formed at the event, coming up with proposals that were then judged. Margaret Evans from the Tree-Ring Lab was on one of the winning teams, for the Sustainable Transportation Environmental Memory Module project, which will develop a display to be sited at one of the streetcar stops, and will allow members of the community to recognize local climate changes over time by presenting the appearance and climate of Tucson at various times in the past.
