5th Annual Astronomy Festival

This event will be held at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park, located at 3536 E River Rd Tucson, AZ.

The TAAA extends an invitation for you to join the 5th Annual Astronomy Festival. This free educational and entertaining event provides fun for the whole family. Being part of it is a rewarding experience.

Exhibits and activities take place from 3PM to 9PM. Solar viewing will take place from 3PM to about 7PM. A presentation will be given beginning at about 7PM followed by telescope viewing of the moon, planets, and deep sky objects until 9PM.

Docent-led Tour

Join us for our free docent-led tour at 2PM in the lobby of the Bryant Bannister Tree-Ring Building (1215 E. Lowell St.). Visitors will be introduced to the basic tenets of dendrochronology, have a chance to examine specimens, and visit our working labs. Reservations are required. R Without Tears Workshop

“Hi all, I know many of you and look forward to meeting more. I'm in the lab for a month or so and happy to offer an informal workshop on using dplR, treeclim and assorted other R packages for doing tree-ring analysis. If you are new to R or just want to learn more please come next Thursday, the Ides of March, at 3pm in the multipurpose room. I will provide R scripts ready to run that cover standardization, chronology building, crossdating, climate-growth analysis and more. Bring a laptop with R installed to get the most out of the session or just come to heckle.
