A UA News posting features the work of Sara Chavarria, who has been leading the outreach component of an NSF-funded interdisciplinary project combining the expertise of dendrochronologists, fire & forest ecologists, and social scientists to study the history of fire in part of the New Mexico landscape. Teachers have visited the Tree-Ring Lab to help them develop new course materials based on the project, and experts have guided students through landscapes affected by fire in various ways.
