Work by Matt Salzer or the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research andy Andy Bunn of Western Washington University featured recently in ArcNews, the newsletter of a leading supplier of Geographic Information Systems software. They used GIS to model the micro-environments experienced by individual trees within an area of rugged terrain, giving a better understanding of their responses to climatic changes on long time scales.
